Another one for the good guys

I had to check VAF before posting this tonight to make sure nobody had posted a "Gosh, look at the great job the media did extolling the world of experimental aircraft." No surprise. They didn't. So here you go.

This is the story of a group of EAAers out in French Valley California who are building a Pietenpol, but one of them built an RV-9 first. (More)

  1. As usual the media got the story all wrong.

...Not really, just pushing your buttons.

  2. Not that it's factually incorrect or anything, but they still managed to get this in there:

"They continue to do so even though since 2007, at least eight experimental craft have crashed in the Inland area, resulting in at least four deaths and four injuries. Home-built airplanes have an accident rate four times as high as general-aviation planes, according to the Federal Aviation Administration."

Big help for some poor schmuck trying to convince his wife that building and flying an Experimental is just fine and don't worry.
